Malvern, PA-Saturday, March 28 is the official opening day of trail season across America. It’s time to dust off the walking shoes, grab the kid and the family dog, and step out for Opening Day! This year, the Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC), the Friends of the Chester Valley Trail, and Bike Chester County are hosting a trail long event March 28th to kick off the season filled with bike tune ups, giveaways from local shops, and more!
Event will take place along the Chester Valley Trail at major access locations, which include the Exton Trail Head, East Whiteland Township Building, and PNC Bank in Malvern. The events will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Along with your bikes and running shoes, bring a backpack because they will be giving away some fun items and refreshments at each stop location. The Friends of the Chester Valley Trail will be handing out the newly created Chester Valley Trail maps for users to use on the trail; Bike Chester County will be giving away bike helmets and other fun things and doing helmet fittings for children and toddlers; and TMACC will be giving out refreshments to trail users.
Not only will this be a fun way to kick off the season and smell Spring’s fresh air, but it will also be a day for unveilings. TMACC and PNC of Malvern has installed a Bike Fix-It Station along the trail for bikers to use if they are in need of a quick repair. The Friends of the Chester Valley Trail has also installed one at the Exton Trail Head. TMACC and PNC will be hosting stop and learn sessions at the PNC Branch in Malvern for anyone interested in learning how to use it.
The Chester Valley Trail is a 13 mile trail that runs from Exton to King of Prussia with plans to connect the trail to the Stuble Trail in Downingtown and the Schuylkill River Trail in Norristown in years to come. The trail is a part of The Circuit, a 750-mile trail network of bicyle and pedestrian trails connecting the Greater Philadelphia Region. As of 2014, 300 miles of the 750-mile network were completed.
